Mahabbah is deep love, while khullah is a special friendship, which is also based on love. A big mistake if one assumes that the mahabbah more perfect than khullah. Mentioned that Abraham was "Khalilullah" and Muhammad "Habibullah. It can be said, mahabah general and specific nature khullah. Khullah is the culmination of love, as the Prophet has said that God made himself as creator of universe, as Abraham. The Prophet would not make the creator of universe apart Lord, as the Prophet notification about his love for Aisha, Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, Umar ibn Khattab, and others.
Allah said about the slaves who loved him:
"Allah loves those who repent and loves those who purify themselves." Surat Al-Baqarah: 222
"Allah loves those who are patient". Qs Ali'Imran: 146.
"Therefore God gave them the reward of the world and the good reward of the Hereafter. And Allah loves those who do good". Qs: Ali'Imran: 148
"And when you judge them, then decide between them with justice. Allah loves those who do Fair." Surah: Al-Ma'idah: 42.
The young man who likes to repent, then he included Habibullah or lover of God. While degrees creator of universe intended for Abraham and Muhammad because only a few people who mampuh achieve ma'rifat nature of God and the Prophet.
